Transfer Printing

Majority of the printing done at DFT Printing Studio done for clients is screen print but from time to time certain products or logos are better suited to using the transfer printing method which involves heat pressing flex, plasitol, foil, flock or CAD-cut vinyl onto garments.

Do you only need a couple of shirts, or just the one? Do you need window/wall decals done?

With our cad-cut machine, not only can you get something simple, quick and easy, but you can also use our professional grade materials. Don't want boring fonts for names and numbers on your teams uniforms? We can custom cut your names and team numbers in more creative fonts and have thousands to choose from. So weather you need quick and easy, different and shiny, or just want to stand out among the rest, we can fit your needs. Call us.....

  • Metallic effect – high gloss metallic print

How Heat Press Works

Unlike screen printing, where the ink absorbs slightly into the garment, transfers sit on top of the garment. This means they look sharp and bright because the garment base colour does not affect the design.

A transfer can be made in a number of different ways and then is applied to the garment using a heat press. We normally use ‘cold peel’ transfers so the garment is left to cool and then the backing paper is removed, leaving the transfer bonded to the garment.

Vinyl printing is an option for those who are looking for smaller batches to be produced in a most cost effective manner. Ideal for designs which are less detailed and are 1 or 2 colour print. The best option for having individual names and/ or number printed for a sports event.

Although vinyl printing works out cheaper for smaller orders, it should not be considered an option if you wish to place orders of 50 or more units, since screen printing will be a better option in that case. The method works with vinyl sheets placed on a cad cutter, with the file uploaded, which then plots the design onto the sheet. Once the design is plotted, we can then simply heat press it on to the garment.

Works best will cotton and poly cotton garments, as this allows us to set the heat press at high temperature, resulting on a long lasting quality.
